A handy template for recording simple homeschool topic explorations
How often have you observed your child in a moment intense, concentrated learning, usually led by curiosity about the world around them? These moments are seldom part of our planned homeschooling routine.
Sometimes these random situations can present teachable moments that lead to bigger things. And if our children aren’t satisfied with the answers we provide, it’s easy to allow the topic to develop into an area that officially joins the homeschool curriculum as a unit study.
What I generally found though was that these spontaneous explorations were usually fleeting and any attempt I made at delving deeper were rejected as the child quickly moved on to the next super interesting thing!
What I needed was a way of capturing these moments in a way that satisfied the homeschool teacher in me.
That’s where a topic template can come in handy. Topic templates are consistent, reusable frameworks for exploring any subject or theme with your child.
