going paid... will I regret it?
how 71 subscribers in a couple of months encouraged me to take the leap
Deep breath… here goes!
After doing a heap of research (many thanks to all the Substackers I’ve subscribed to that write about Substack) I’ve taken the leap, dived in at the deep end and decided to offer paid subscriptions, hoping that I can dog paddle my way around this big Substack pond, or at least keep floating!
It’s been hard restraining myself from posting something on Substack everyday. That would be way too many emails in your in-box… Guess how many ready-to-go newsletters there are at the moment sitting impatiently in my drafts folder? Too many!
Suffice to say, instead of adding to their number, over the last couple of weeks I’ve been creating a heap of goodies to offer paid subscribers, by drawing on my 40 years of involvement and experience in the Australian home educating community, and reflecting on what people ask for most, and what I would have found useful all those years ago.
I know what it’s like to have doubts, to make mistakes, spend money I don’t have buying resources we never used. I know we all start in more or less the same space and how it feels to leave mainstream education to embark on this awesome adventure. Scary, right? But you’re not alone. I’ll help you.

It’s been a long cherished wish of mine to re-engage my imagination and write fiction for kids again, after a couple of decades of doubting myself, wallowing in writer’s block. Woohoo!
